Animal Well: How To Get And Use The Remote (2024)

You are a small, round being that emerges from a flower in the world of Animal Well. As you explore the map of this metroidvania adventure, you'll find yourself discovering different biomes filled with all sorts of wild life. You'll also find puzzles to solve and secret pathways to discover all over the dimension.

Some puzzles you may come across on your adventure will not be solvable using sheer wit. You may need to acquire a specific tool beforehand in order to clear them. There are key items that you can acquire throughout your journey, and these can be used to solve certain puzzles. One of these items is the Remote.

How To Find The S Medal

To get to the area with the Remote, you'll first need to acquire an S medal. This can be found in the upper right region on the Map.

Head to where the Green Chameleon boss can be found. You can only find the S medal, when the boss is gone. In the spot that the Green Chameleon was standing, you'll find that there's an area in its place.

Go through, and you'll see a chest. Open the chest to find the S medal inside.

Once you have the S medal, make your way to the lower left area of your map. The slot for the S medal can be found there.

1. From the area where you first spawned, head east.
2. Hop over the water to get to the steps leading to the top of the middle ladder.
3. Go down the ladder, then head for the ladder on the right.
4. Head up the ladder.
5. You'll find yourself in the area where the S medal slot can be found. Hop onto the platform on top of the waterfall.
6. Use your Bubble Wand in order to hop across to the upper right ledge.
7. Insert the S medal into the slot, and then an entrance to your right will open up.

How To Get The Remote

Once you've opened up the next area after placing the S medal in the slot, head east. You'll see a puzzle below you and two ladders that can take you to a lower level.

Go down the ladders, and you'll find yourself in a large room with a large Snake lurking around. The Snake can go across the entire room, and it will go after you when it sees you.

The Remote can be found through the entrance at the opposite end of the room. There's a lantern on the left, illuminating the exact spot.

You'll need to hop down to the ground, then lead the Snake to the left. Once you get underneath the ledge, hop on top of the Snake's head when it comes close to you. It will push you upward, and you'll be able to hop onto the ledge.

Go west, and you'll find yourself in a room with a chest. There's a hummingbird here, and it'll peck at your bubbles made with the Bubble Wand. You won't be able to use it to get around in this room.

Go all the way to where the chest is, then open it. You'll find the Remote inside.

How To Use The Remote

The Remote can be used to switch between puzzle blocks. This will allow you to get to previously unreachable areas. You can also use it to make platforms that you can hop on to make it across different obstacles.

To equip it, scroll through your tools using 'L1' or 'R1'. You can also open your inventory and select it from that menu.

How To Solve The Snake Puzzle

The Snake room beside the Remote's location is actually a puzzle where you need the Remote.

In the upper left corner of the room, there is a chest sitting behind a barrier. To open the barrier, the Snake needs to eat the four fruits found in four different spots of the room.

You can take control of the Snake's movements using the Remote. Activate it by pressing your tool key, then you'll hear a sound cue indicating that the Snake is in your control.

Use your directional buttons or your joystick to direct the Snake where you want it to go. Make sure its head is pointing towards the fruit you'd like for it to eat, then have it head in that direction.

Avoid leading the Snake to a solid surface where it cannot turn away. It will end up dying if you don't leave it any room.

Once you solve the puzzle, the barrier will unlock. Open the chest behind it to find an Iridescent Egg inside.

How To Solve The Remote Puzzle

Above the Snake room is another room that requires the Remote. On the ground below you are shadow monsters that will damage you should you fall into them.

You'll need to time the activation of your Remote so that you can make it across from platform to platform. Most of your movement will require you to hop towards the next platform, then instantly activate your Remote.

The only time this is different is when you face the vertical pillar in the upper section of the room.

You'll need to hop to the next platform, and then instantly activate your Remote twice. This will cause the pillar to disappear, and then the next platform to reappear right away.

Go towards the ladder in the upper left corner of the room, then head up.

The next area has another puzzle requiring your Remote. You'll need to get on the moving platforms, and then use your Remote to unblock the path ahead of you as you near them.

The highest moving platform will require you to hop between the two pillars on the left constantly, until the platform can make it to the left section of the room. Once you can reach it, hop onto it and let it take you to the chest on the right.

Open the chest to find an Ice Egg inside.
