MASON CITY - A basem*nt fire at a Mason City house chased the resident out into the yard as firefighters deal with the blaze.

MASON CITY – A basem*nt fire at a Mason City house chased the resident out into the yard as firefighters deal with the blaze.

On May 12, 2024, at approximately 11:42 PM, the Mason City Fire Department was dispatched for smoke inside of a house at 123 Winnebago Way. Fire crews arrived and found the resident outside and smoke coming from the house. Firefighters were able to contain the fire to the basem*nt, with smoke and heat damage throughout the house.

The fire cause was electrical and accidental in nature.

Emergency crews cleared the scene at approximately 2:42 AM. Investigation was completed the next morning.

No injuries were reported.
