What is the story of our dining table? ›

Plot. Yutaka Hozumi is a lonely salaryman who is estranged from his family and finds it difficult to eat with other people. One day in the park, he meets brothers Minoru and Tane Ueda. Minoru and Tane find his cooking delicious and ask him to visit and teach them how to cook.

Our Dining Table is a Japanese BL series about a shy protagonist who bonds with a heartwarming family. The main character lives by himself and leads a lonely life. One day, he befriends a cheerful child and his older brother. The siblings welcome him into their home, where they enjoy meals together every weekend.

The poem is all about war, its pain, and suffering as well as the cause of the war. Hence, the poetic persona deploys poetic techniques to present his thoughts. The poem opens up with the phrase, “dinner tonight.” Unfortunately here, the poetic persona is not referring to that kind of merriment.

The table is often a symbol for togetherness, a place for rituals that celebrate family and community. But the table in the kitchen has a longer history, and its one in which social class has a big role to play.
