"Weekend Update": May 11

Did the May 11 "Weekend Update" bring the Stormy Daniels impression some may have expected from the cold open (which instead featured the cast's moms)? No, but it did star another major player from the week in news: RFK Jr.'s brain worm (Sarah Sherman).

Jost and Che also welcomed A Woman Who Insists She's Not Mad (Heidi Gardner), despite seeming pretty resentful about something mysterious.

Weekend Update ft. Jerry Seinfeld, Chloe Fineman and Marcello Hernàndez

The May 4 "Weekend Update" featured three guest appearances: First,Marcello Hernández played South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem's other dog (the politician recently made headlines for oddly bragging about shooting her puppy in a new book). He hilariously maintained her innocence while sending low-key pleas for help to Colin Jost.

Next up, master impressionist Chloe Fineman unveiled her take on former reality star and current pop singer JoJo Siwa, nailing her head-scratching new viral dance move(watch above), while Jerry Seinfeld — the real Jerry Seinfeld — made a quick surprise visit as A Man Who Did Too Much Press, amid Seinfeld's press tour for his new Pop-Tarts movie.

"If you are struggling with press, you’re not alone," Seineld said. "I’m talking to you, Ryan Gosling.”

April 13's "Weekend Update" touched on some of the week's biggest news stories, from the Arizona's revived 160-year-old abortion ban ("It's probably not great to adopt health care rules from a time where the only two things doctors prescribed were prayer and cocaine," Jost pointed out) to the death of O.J. Simpson.

While Michael Longfellow made a funny return to the "Update" desk to comment on the TikTok dating debate around"weaponized incompetence," the true star of the broadcast was Iowa Hawkeye Caitlin Clark. The record-shattering athlete stopped by to offer Michael Che some jokes to read in what was an arguably overdue roasting of Che, after all of the jokes he's made at the expense of women's basketball (Jost provided receipts in the form of a video montage). Clark also gave Che an autographed apron.

"I can't wait to give this to my girlfriend," Che joked.

"You don't have a girlfriend, Michael," Clark shot back. ZING!

The April 6 edition of "Weekend Update" welcomed an old friend back to the desk: Kristen Wiig's Aunt Linda character, who gave her confused reviews ofBarbie, Oppenheimer, andThe Bear.

"Hello Seth," Wiig's Aunt Linda greeted Colin Jost."Someone's gotten some work done."

Jost and Che also got a visit from New York City's 4.8 magnitude earthquake, which rattled residents across the east coast but caused little damage in NYC. The earthquake (Marcello Hernández, who leveraged every inch of the wobbly prop hat on his head) admitted that he was actually born in New Jersey, before meeting his match in the upcoming solar eclipse (Kenan Thompson).

"Weekend Update": March 30

Former president and current Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump's current gig as a Bible salesman was the subject of March 30's cold open sketch, and Jost addressed it at the top of the "Weekend Update" broadcast as well.

"Donald Trump has partnered with country music star Lee Greenwood to sell a $60 edition of the Bible that also includes the Constitution, the lyrics to Greenwood's "God Bless the USA," and, I assume, God's letter of resignation," Jost joked.

This week's "Weekend Update" also featured two excellent guests. First, Chloe Fineman stopped by as fictional TikToker Piper Dunster, who aimed to chastise people for nursing wild Kate Middleton theories — until her own embarrassing social media videos are revealed.

Sarah Sherman also returned in full feathered form, pretending to be Flaco the Owl's widow as she weighed in on the bird's autopsy results (and, of course, teased Colin Jost).

"Weekend Update: March 9

The March 9 episode ofSNLwas a stacked one, jam-packed with hilarious sketches including two that featured musical guest Ariana Grande, plus a cold open that featured Jost's wife andSNLFive TimerScarlett Johansson as Alabama junior Senator Katie Britt parodying her now-viral State of the Union response. That may have contributed to the slightly-shorter-than-usual "Weekend Update," which featured no guests at the desk.

The segment did touch on Britt's big moment again, joking that she'll be appearing in a one-woman show titledA Britt Much.

"That was some of the worst acting I’ve ever seen, and I’ve seen me,” Jost joked, as the screen cut to a still of Jost in 2021'sComing 2 America.

Weekend Update: Biden's State of the Union, Mitch McConnell Endorses Trump

"Weekend Update": March 2

The "Weekend Update" from Sydney Sweeney's March 2 episodeaddressed President Biden and former president Donald Trump's same-day visits to the southern border, with Jost calling it "the setup for the weirdest rom-com of all time."

Jost and Che also had some fun sending off Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, as the 82-year-old Congressman announced he'll step down from the position come November.

Savoring their dwindling opportunity to deliver a seemingly-bottomless supply of jokes accompanying a photo of McConnell grinning, Jost and Che described McConnell as "...seen here catching up on news from the Middle East," "...seen here walking out of a theater after watching12 Years a Slave," "...seen here after rearranging a blind woman's furniture," and "...seen here watching a single mother selling her blood for diaper money."

"Weekend Update": February 24

February 24's "Weekend Update" kicked off with a focus on Trump's most recent primary victory in the path to the 2024 GOP presidential nomination.

"Just hours ago, Donald Trump won the South Carolina primary, which means that Trump is now undefeated," Jost said. "...Everywhere except court." After real campaign trail footage of Trump from earlier that day, in which Trump promised a "judgment day" once he's reelected, Jost cracked, "now where did I hear that before?" and cut to a photo of Tom Hardy as Batman villain Bane.

While the February 24 episode roasted President Trump's new gold "Never Surrender" sneakers in a pretaped sketch, known sneakerhead Che also called them out. "You can check them out on the feet of the guy getting dragged off your flight," he joked.

The broadcast also featured two guests: Marcello Hernandez as a frozen embryo from Alabama, and Bowen Yang as late writer Truman Capote, the subject of the latest season of Feud.

"Weekend Update": February 3

"MAGA people have so much to keep track of," Jost joked, going on to cite just a few targets of Republicans' ire aired across cable news and on social media. "You have to hate the NFL, Taylor Swift, Bud Light, Disney, Kristen Stewart for some reason, electric stoves, windmills, the concept of rainbows, and the green M&M."

February 3's "Weekend Update" only had one guest, but it was excellent:Sarah Sherman debuted a new character named CJ Rossitano. The 18-year-old visited to talk about winning theSNLticket lottery...except his strong resemblance to Colin Jost simply couldn't be ignored.
